Kk I'll make this a quick one, me and my cousins were at our favorite noob dive spot. It was about 2-4 surf so it didnt look like a good day and my cousins dad was there so he wouldnt let him go in with me. I hit the dropp off and i spent half the time out there just tring not bodysurf before coming in. On my way in seen nothing special, or nothing at all I forget, I though back to when i seen this other diver get out the water with 8lb tako he said he had caught just 3 feet from shore, and desided to take a peak into this litlle 1 foot opening under a rock ledge that was about 3 feet from shore, instantly I seen blue! then I realized my eyes were just adjusting, ha ha I laughed to my self. But at I brought my head up another foot to the surface, (I was in about 2 feet of water) the blue turned to green a little and turned around!

Heart pounding I plundged my head back to the hole just in time to see my blue buddy take off. Crap I said to myself he's long gone, but just in case I'll look in this rock thats right next to where I'm at. I couldnt believe my eyes the biggest Uhu I had ever seen was trying his hardest to get out the back side of this hole that was filled with sand because of low tide. I was ready to shoot but I though to myself no ways u better pull back that spear some more cuz U got one shot at this. So i stuck my head up one last time and yanked that rubber al the way to the part u twist the head onto the spear. Loked back into the whole spotted him trying to get out another way but it was blocked by a rock that odly looked like a uhu half submerged in tha sand...

I releasd! I could feel my three pronge shaking all about and I was terrified that it was gonna get away so push it harder and harder and everytime i did i could see what looked like brown water coming outta hole in clouds.

wow so much for short but yea that was my first Uhu and my biggest. Took me my cousin and a buddy with a bottomless pit for a stomach to eat just one side of the fish. Heres a few pics of it, desposible camera lol.

haha, that's a good story. Crazy that it was so close to shore. Those are the harder ones to shoot, too--the whiptails.

Had something like that happen to me night diving once (when I used to night dive...). Spent like two or three hours in the water and didn't find anything to shoot. I was headed in and was about two feet from the shore when I saw a blue rock uhu. I stood up and told my buddy who was already out, "Hey watch this!" Ducked my head back under, speared the uhu and took the one step left required to get out! Crazy.

Theres a place where we hunt, you dive under a dock, its about a foot and a half of water, but on either side of the dock it drops down to 20'. Stone carp and perch. But still crazy impressive.
