See photo or speargun in gallery under miscellaneous. Was on Darvocet pain meds tonight and was tweaking at 2 am. I decided to put some camo tape that I found at a surplus store, on my Rob Allen 120.

Why am I on Darvocet? Went diving on south east side of Big Island Sunday. Had a request for some palani. The water was rough, with a lot of white water. There was a huge palani school. Made a few drops and speared the first two, then on the next drop, an omilu comes flying in, sees me laying on the bottom, and as he leaves, I give him a 7mm gift  . I shoot another palani after that and then make my way to find another house to hit. On my first drop, I shoot a small uhu. As I was stringing it up, I feel the slap of a palani tail, and a sharp pain shoot up my arm. I look down to see a stream of blood shooting through my rash guard and wetsuit, "sucka got me good". My fault for 1. not killing him good and 2. not cutting off the knives. I grab my gun, pull up my anchor, and swim back to shore as I apply pressure to my right arm. About 20 minutes later, I'm on shore, and I lift my hand to see a bulge in my wetsuit where the palani hit me. When I take off the wetsuit, I see this golf ball size lump on my arm growing bigger. Long story short, ended up with a hematoma on my right arm. Four and 1/2 hours of waiting at the Hilo ER, I finally got my tetanus shot, my Darvocet, and my antibiotics. Pic of catch also in gallery, thanks to my dive partners on Oahu. You can see the hematoma on my right arm. Dive safe...unlike me.

Get well.

What a day. Went to a doctor today who didn't even know the name of the area between the wrist and elbow, perhaps she didn't see "forearm" in her Korean dictionary. She was scarey man. This is how she described the lump on my arm "da lump is like ball, jus like scrotum, jus like eyeball". I was ready to get the hell out of dodge when I heard that. I was afraid she'd give me an enema or vasectomy or something. She referred me to a surgeon to inspect if there was muscle damage, he said it looked good, what a relief. I'll be out of comission for a week or two, but I think I'll stay away from Palani for awhile.

Fuzz and Manini, thanks for the words of encouragement. Fuzz, I just ordered a 130 Stealth. This should be a nice boat gun once my boat friends take me diving. You think the stock setup with single band is good for open water diving here on Big Island? Mahalo.

Man UP, I shot one today pushing 2 feet. Bugga ripped the gun from my hand. When I finally got it close to me, and saw my lousy "mid body" shot, I immediately thought of your story, and the picture of the "scrotum" on your arm. Tok me about 5 minutes to figure out how to bring it close to dispatch w/o getting my own "owey".

Glad you doin' better.

Thanks Stodelle! If the palani did hit my scrotum I'd be in bad shape, thank God it was only my arm. I can dive with a bum arm, but with one nut...hmmmm. I think the doctor said a couple Heinekens a night would help the wound heal faster...or maybe I was hearing things. Must of been the Darvocet talking again. .

Thanks Andy. Hope the KES spearguns are doing well. I need to take mine out and introduce it to some Big Island fish. I think the camo RA will get first dibs on the next dive session, of course I do have a carbon Rabitech on way. Decisions, decisions.

Blew,
Thanks man, I'm trying to get better soon so I can dive. As for having as much guns as Fuzz, no way. I actually sold him one of mine and one of my friends. I sold one of my KES guns to Andy, so I only got 3, soon 4. I think Fuzz got like 40+ guns. Maybe he'll read this and post his pic. Some people thought he was using photoshop, but I know he's got all those guns. Hopefully more pics to come. Laters.

h2orealm,
Yeah, man this palani poke is nutz!!! My arm still has at least a golf ball size lump that won't go down. My whole arm was swollen and black and blue. Word of advice, DON'T LET THAT KNIFE POKE YOU!!!!! All the firemen and nurses were blown away with the swelling.

As for buying the camo duck tape, I see it on ebay and have seen it at hunting shops like Sports Authority. I'm not sure if the hunting tape is as durable as the duck tape though. Try to find the most durable one you can find. We'll see how long mine last. Like I said before, I have a whole role for $6, so I can cover my gun a good 10+ times. I wonder if it would work on my fins or float...hmmmmm, time to take some Vicodin  .
